These things show up in my toilet after it rains. Any idea what they are?

After the storm, the toilet looked like something from a nightmare. Brown, wriggling shapes floated in the bowl, moving just enough to trigger instant panic. The first thoughts were the worst ones—parasites, sewer creatures, or something dangerous rising through the pipes.

But a closer look told a completely different story. They were not worms or parasites at all. They were tadpoles, the early life stage of frogs.

The heavy rain had likely created the perfect conditions for frogs to get inside through open windows, vents, or drains and lay eggs in standing water. What seemed horrifying at first was actually a small and accidental ecosystem appearing in the most unexpected place.

Once the truth became clear, fear gave way to responsibility. The tadpoles were carefully removed and released into a nearby pond, where they could continue developing in a natural environment.

Simple precautions, such as keeping drains covered and sealing bathroom openings during periods of heavy rain, can help prevent something similar from happening again.

In the end, what first appeared disturbing turned out to be nothing more than nature finding its way into the wrong place.
